The price of high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs5 per liter to Rs288 on Sunday, according to Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, who also announced that the price of gasoline would remain at Rs282 per liter for the next two weeks.
The price of light diesel and kerosene will be reduced by Rs10 to Rs164.68 and 176.07 per liter, respectively, the finance minister announced in a video address today.
Dar asserted that the finance ministry had tried everything possible to resolve the price adjustment issue in the country’s favor after considering the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s proposal. He asserted that the final price modifications were decided after “many rounds” of discussion.
Between April 1 and April 15, the country consumed 15,500 tonnes of high-speed diesel and nearly 20,000 tonnes of gasoline daily.
Between 8,000 and 10,000 tonnes of high-speed diesel were reportedly being smuggled into Pakistan every single day, while Iranian gasoline was less popular due to its slightly lower quality and the general decline in fuel demand.
