In Pakistan, fuel prices have always been significant, but now they have become absolutely crucial. The country is experiencing difficult economic conditions due to the swift depreciation of the PKR versus the US dollar, which is directly related to the price of oil. Due to the significant devaluation of the Pakistani rupee versus the US dollar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced a 35-rupee per-liter increase in gasoline prices at the end of the previous month.
Ishaq Dar also stated that the cost of kerosene and light diesel oil had increased by Rs. 18 in his remark regarding the increase in gasoline prices.
Expected Fuel Price Hike
Now, there are reports that the fuel prices will go up once again in the coming days. As per our sources, the government will jack up the per liter rates as follow:
- Petrol Rs. 21.71/liter
- High-Speed Diesel Rs. 6.85/liter
- Kerosene oil Rs. 17.60/liter
If the sources are reliable, there has been a considerable increase, particularly in the price of gasoline. And this will put even more of a burden on the already-strapped populace. In the meantime, rumours are surfacing that the sales of gasoline at the pumps have ceased in a number of Punjabi cities. The claimed that most gas stations in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sargodha were closed. In addition, there are a few gas stations available in Shakargarh, Khushab, Gojra, and Mandi Bahauddin that offer motorcycle riders fuel worth Rs. 200 and other vehicles fuel worth no more than Rs. 500.
