Despite the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) summary to increase the rates, the federal government said on Saturday that it would maintain the costs of gasoline and high-speed diesel for the ensuing two weeks in an effort to “give assistance to the public.”
The decision, according to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, has resulted in the price of gasoline and diesel being set at Rs214.80 and Rs227.80, respectively, per litre.
According to the finance minister, the government has also decided to keep the price of kerosene oil and light diesel oil at Rs. 171.83 and Rs. 169, respectively, in anticipation of winter.

It should be noted that since the start of the outgoing quarter (October- December) of the fiscal year 2022-23, the prices have cumulatively declined by:
- Rs22.63 per litre in petrol price
- Rs19.63 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel
- Rs28.28 per litre in the price of light diesel oil
- Rs30.19 per litre in the price of kerosene oil
The government last slashed prices of petroleum products by up to Rs10 per litre on December 15.
