With an annual production of 30,000 tons of honey, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has emerged as a significant center for the breeding of bees and the production of honey.
The largest honey market in Asia, according to a report, is the Pak International Honey Market in Peshawar, which exports 300 to 400 containers of honey annually.
Afghan refugees brought the bee industry to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1989. Starting with just five boxes, the company has since expanded significantly, reaching millions of boxes. This industry employs between one and five million people, and the annual honey production is exported to Gulf nations.
Different province districts, including Berri, Palaya, Suparke, and Rubynia, produce different kinds of honey. In particular, the berry honey from the Karak district is renowned. Hundreds of containers of honey are exported from the Pak International Honey Market in Peshawar each year, which is a significant hub for the trade of honey in Asia.
