
Pakistan will only compete in the upcoming World Cup in India if the country’s cricket governing body is given a guarantee that the hosts of the 50-over competition will reciprocate by traveling to Pakistan to compete in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
On Wednesday, the second and final day of the officials’ visit to the PCB’s headquarters, the demand was made known to ICC chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice.
The PCB Management Committee’s interim chairman, Najam Sethi, recently warned that Pakistan’s boycott of the World Cup was “very much a possibility” in light of the BCCI’s choice to not send a team to the country for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place in September.
The leaked numbers that predicted Pakistan would receive just 5.75 percent of the organization’s earnings and India would receive 38.5% were still being discussed by the PCB and ICC officials.
