Authorities in Virginia reported that a resident shot a naked intruder who threatened him with a frying pan.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on February 26 before Austinsville’s 2655 Loafers Rest Road was the scene of a shooting.
The woman had been shot in the leg when deputies arrived. She was treated by first responders before being taken to a nearby hospital.
According to investigators, the home’s owner heard a noise coming from the backyard. When he investigated it, he discovered an unidentified naked woman entering through the door. She then started striking the homeowner with a flying cast iron pan.
Before locking up his house, the homeowner was able to get the woman out.
However, the woman went to the back porch and started turning off the electrical breakers while yelling at the homeowner to leave “her” house and threatening to kill him. She also started banging on the kitchen window.
The homeowner then quickly reached for his weapon and shot the woman in the lower leg.
Paula Michelle Locklear, 35, is the suspect, according to the authorities. She was charged with felony breaking and entering, assault and battery, and property damage after being discharged from the hospital.
At the Carroll County General District Court, she is awaiting arraignment.
Authorities stated that because the shooting was deemed to be in self-defense, the homeowner will not be charged.
