Sahib e Asra, a Pakistani athlete, has thanked the media and her supporters for speaking out so that she could receive her gift of spikes without having to pay hefty taxes.
The 26-year-old sprinter told the media during her interview that the tax dispute regarding the pair of imported spikes had been settled, and she had now received the spikes. She admitted that she did not pay the significant tax levied earlier in order to receive the spikes.

Earlier this week, Sahib e Asra received a pair of imported spikes as a kind gift and soon found herself caught up in an unexpected tax predicament.
The athlete reportedly needed the spikes, which were valued at Rs. 55,000, to help her resume training after her previous pair had worn out.
But the courier service required Asra to pay a startling Rs. 68,000 in taxes that the government had imposed as a levy that was required of all imported goods.
At the 13th South Asian Games in 2019, Asra competed for Pakistan and took home three medals—a bronze in the 400-meter race and silver and bronze in the 400-meter and 100-meter races, respectively.
Sahib e Asra also recently won two gold medals at the 34th National Games, which is relevant to mention here.
