According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started talking to other cricket boards as a backup plan in case the Asia Cup is postponed in September of this year.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India reportedly ordered the PCB to host the entire tournament at a neutral site, but the PCB is reportedly reluctant to comply.
“Playing in Pakistan or accepting the hybrid model are your only two choices. All the work that went into bringing international cricket to Pakistan will be for naught if the entire tournament is held outside of Pakistan. It will also have an impact on the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, according to sources.
Pakistan intends to take part in bilateral or triangular series as part of their preparations for the ICC World Cup in India in the event that the Asia Cup is postponed or if India decides to hold a five-nation tournament similar to the Asian event.
Reliable sources claim that the PCB has already started contacting different cricket boards. For the series that will run concurrently with the Asia Cup, the boards of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and West Indies are being considered as potential participants.
