Pakistan overcame England in a thrilling fourth Twenty20 International in Karachi to even the series at two games each, with the remaining three matches to be played in Lahore. Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz shone with the ball. Mohammad Hasnain’s two wickets in the second over helped Pakistan, who were attempting to chase a total of 167, go down to three for 14. A 49-run stand between Harry Brook and Moeen Ali was made before both players were quickly out of the game. After then, David Willey and Liam Dawson exchanged a few words before the former was expelled by Haris Rauf. Liam Dawson scored four fours and a six to nearly win the game for England with 34 runs needed off the final three overs.
Rauf, however, had other plans, and he quickly removed Dawson and Olly Stone from the game to favour Pakistan. Reece Topley was run out by Shan Masood off of a delivery from Mohammad Wasim Jr. in the last over, sending the National Stadium fans into a frenzy. Mohammad Rizwan earlier scored 88 runs off 67 deliveries, but England held Pakistan to a total of 166/4 in 20 overs. Rizwan gave Pakistan a strong start during the powerplay, but he couldn’t finish the job as he was out in the last over of the game.
Before being caught at deep midwicket off a Liam Dawson delivery, Babar Azam made a 27-ball 36. The previous game’s standout batsman, Shan Masood, could only muster 21 runs off 19 balls before being removed by David Willey. Khushdil Shan and Rizwan were both bowled out by Reece Topley in quick succession, but Asif Ali smashed him for two sixes to help Pakistan surpass the 160-run threshold.
