According to ARY News’ report on Friday, the suspension of mobile broadband internet services since Tuesday has cost Pakistan’s telecom industry a sizable amount of money—roughly Rs2.49 billion. Following the riots that broke out after PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest, various parts of the nation have suspended service for the fourth day in a row.
The government receives Rs280 million every day in revenue from mobile broadband services. As a result, the suspension cost the government a significant amount of money—nearly Rs860 million.
E-commerce, online services, home delivery, and ride-hailing apps are all impacted in addition to the financial ramifications. About 150,000 bike riders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have suffered as a result of the suspension of broadband internet services.
In addition, the software industry suffered a sizable loss of Rs. 10 billion over the course of the previous four days, according to the All Pakistan Software Export Association. Unfortunately, there is currently no sign of internet restoration in the nation, according to sources within the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
