Pakistan will take part in the eagerly awaited Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2023, which is planned to run from August 3 to August 12 in Chennai, India.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), according to insider sources, intends to hold training camps to get the national team ready for the prestigious competition. In the upcoming week, the PHF is anticipated to provide additional information regarding the camp and the chosen players.

For Pakistan, the Asian Champions Trophy is of utmost importance because it provides a crucial venue for team development prior to the Asian Games 2023, which will be held in China.

These competitions also provide teams with a chance to qualify for the eagerly anticipated 2024 Paris Olympics.

The top teams from India, Malaysia, Japan, China, and South Korea will compete in the 7th edition of the Asian Champions Trophy. With two titles under their belts and a joint victory in 2018, it’s noteworthy that Pakistan and India have both experienced victory in this competition.

In the midst of the PHF’s financial difficulties, recent successes by the Pakistan junior team have offered some hope.

In spite of facing a dire financial crisis, the federation was able to lead the junior team to the Junior Asia Cup final in Oman in 2023, securing qualification for the Junior Hockey World Cup in that year. The Green Shirts suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to India in a thrilling final, missing out on the championship by a whisker.

The PHF has had difficulty affording the costs of setting up training camps, travel, lodging, player salaries, and coach payments for international hockey competitions.
