An extensive report titled “Pakistan’s Internet Landscape 2022” was released on Monday, and it shed light on Pakistan’s complex relationship between human rights and ICTs.
The report, written by Jahanzaib Haque, Chief Digital Strategist and Editor at Dawn, and published by human rights organization Bytes For All, highlighted how Pakistan continued to perform poorly on the global scale in terms of internet access and digital governance.
The report revealed that Pakistan still lags behind, especially when compared to other Asian countries, even though the country demonstrated some progress in terms of internet access and general governance.
It was noted that despite an increase in internet usage, 15% of the population still did not have access to mobile or telecom services or internet connectivity.
