Pakistan Railways (PR) will receive the first shipment of 230 brand-new, high-speed passenger coaches from China in December 2022. The coaches will be able to travel at the train’s 160 km/h maximum speed.
According to reports, the Chinese company has signed a contract with Pakistan to supply state-of-the-art, luxurious and comfortable coaches to revitalize long-distance passenger services.
According to the PR representative, the passenger coaches will include 80 compartments each for air-conditioned and economy class, 30 parlour cars, and 20 vans for luggage and brakes.
He stated that 200 freight vans will be imported and 620 such bogies would be made at the factory.

The Chinese company is to produce 230 cutting-edge passenger coaches under a $140 million contract (roughly Rs31 billion), of which 46 will be delivered as fully assembled units and the remaining 184 will be produced in Pakistan by the PR engineers and technical staff under the guidance of the Chinese experts.
