Pakistan Railways (PR) has issued a new passenger train schedule that will go into effect from October 15. The department has reportedly done so in the light of the approaching winter season.
Instead of travelling from Multan to Faisalabad, the Shalimar Express (Up and 28 Down) will travel from Khanewal to Sahiwal. The report also states that it will no longer make stops at the Drigh Road and Landhi stopovers.
At 2:30 pm, the Pakistan Express (45 UP) will leave Karachi for Rawalpindi. instead of 1:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m., the Karakoram (KK) Express will leave from Lahore and Karachi. In addition, the agency has restored the layover for the KK Express in Bahawalpur.
The Allama Iqbal Express (9 UP) will leave Karachi for Sialkot at 3:30 p.m. Instead of leaving from Multan, Pak Business Express will leave from Jahanian. Additionally, PR has terminated the Chaklala stopover for the Rawal Express.
Special Trains Between Lahore and Rawalpindi
Earlier previous month, PR Minister Saad Rafique declared that the department would introduce two special trains between Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The first new train was supposed to debut at 7:30 PM on September 5 while the second train was supposed to leave for service on September 6. The Rawalpindi and Lahore stations were told by PR to postpone the launch for 5 days.
Currently, 9 trains operate between Rawalpindi and Lahore, namely:
- Awam Express
- Green Line Express
- Islamabad Express
- Jaffar Express
- Khyber Mail
- Rawal Express
- Subak Kharam
- Subak Raftar
- Tezgam Express
