The Pakistan Railways has decided to raise platform ticket prices with immediate effect in an effort to recoup financial losses.
Details indicate that the PR division increased the cost of platform tickets from Rs 10 to Rs 20 at all national railroad stations.
The revised prices will take effect on February 17.
It is important to note that Pakistan Railways has raised rail rates in response to the nationwide increase in the price of petroleum goods.
The train tariffs were increased by 8% by the railway ministry. Except for the Green Line, the fare rise had been implemented to all trains and all classes.
The government decided to raise the fees as a result, the Railways spokesman said in a statement, adding that the recent increase in diesel costs placed an additional strain of more than Rs10 million per day.
