With effect from August 17, 2023, all mail/express, intercity, shuttle, passenger trains, and saloon fares will increase by 10%.

According to the notification, the Director of IT at Pakistan Railways will be in charge of implementing the fare increase for advanced reservations on all mail/express and intercity trains.

The new fare will be reflected in the reservation systems for travelers who intend to make travel arrangements. On the Pakistan Railways website, the public should be able to access the updated fare table that outlines the changes.

Furthermore, it has been mandated that this new fare structure be implemented and made known to passengers by all booking and reservation offices, as well as by railway stations.

Additionally, fares will be rounded off in accordance with a rule that was first issued in 2019, making transactions simpler for both passengers and ticketing staff.

The significance of accurate fare implementation has been stressed by railroad officials. Any discrepancies should be reported within a week if they are discovered by the station or commercial staff. The notification cautions that failure to comply will result in the staff being held accountable.

Many have made assumptions about the factors influencing this decision because the notification does not provide any information about the cause of the fare increase.

Before making travel arrangements, travelers are advised to confirm the new prices on the official website or at railway stations.
