In order to improve security in the red zone of the provincial capital, the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has successfully implemented a sophisticated “command and control system” powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Ahsan Azhar Hayat officially opened this ground-breaking system, the first of its kind in Pakistan, on Monday at the Central Police Office.
The cutting-edge system includes 365 security cameras with facial and vehicle recognition technology. According to Akhtar Hayat, the provincial police chief, its main purpose is to identify and monitor everyone entering the red zone, which receives about 50,000 visitors every day.
The AI-driven command and control system serves two main goals, it was emphasized in a statement issued by the police chief’s office. The security of vital installations within the red zone is the first priority. It also aims to create an automated, integrated entry system for registered employees.
The statement went on to explain that all field commanders will have easy access to the command and control system, giving them better operational capabilities to deal with emergencies and crises. The police expect a significant improvement in their capacity to monitor and manage security within the red zone after utilizing the power of AI technology.
This technological development demonstrates the government’s dedication to implementing cutting-edge solutions to protect public areas and important infrastructure. An important step towards enhancing security measures and streamlining access control procedures in the red zone of the provincial capital is the implementation of the AI-powered system.
A further layer of security will be added to the area thanks to the seamless identification of people and vehicles made possible by the integration of facial and vehicle recognition features with the extensive network of surveillance cameras. The system’s capacity for data analysis and processing in real-time will help law enforcement organizations prevent potential threats and guarantee the security of all guests and staff members inside the red zone.
The effective use of this state-of-the-art command and control system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa creates a promising precedent for utilizing AI technology to improve security measures throughout the nation. It represents a significant advance in enhancing public safety and protecting vital locations from risks and security lapses.
