The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in Pakistan has signed a significant investment agreement with the AD Ports Group, a well-known port operator from the United Arab Emirates. This pact will be in effect for 50 years. The Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) at Karachi Port will be managed and improved by a partnership between the AD Ports Group and Kaheel Terminals, a business based in the UAE.
There will be significant investments made in infrastructure, such as deepening berths, extending quay walls, and enlarging container storage areas, to improve the terminal’s capabilities. The AD Ports Group, the terminal’s majority shareholder, intends to invest $220 million over the course of the first ten years for the concession and expansion of the terminal.
This agreement’s primary objective is to strengthen ties between Pakistan’s and the UAE’s maritime industries while fostering economic development in both nations.
