Pacific Ocean Tsunami Warning Issued after Strong Earthquake Near New Caledonia

There was a tsunami warning issued for Australia and the nearby islands after a powerful earthquake struck the Pacific Ocean southeast of New Caledonia near Sydney.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake, according to the US Geological Service, occurred in the Pacific Ocean southeast of New Caledonia.

Authorities have issued a tsunami warning for Australia’s favorite resort, Lord’s Island.

According to authorities, tsunami waves were not immediately visible after the earthquake, but if they appeared by evening, Lord’s Island might be affected.

The situation is being closely watched by the Australian Tsunami Warning Centre.
