On Tuesday morning, the Oscar nominees for 2023 were revealed.
The 95th Academy Awards nominees in 23 categories, including best picture, best director, best original and adapted screenplay, best actor and actress in a leading and supporting role, best song, best score, and crafts categories like cinematography, production design, sound, film editing, and visual effects, were announced by Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams.
For the first time since 2016, the nominations for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences were revealed live at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in front of a journalist and publicist-packed audience.
Along with airing on ABC’s Good Morning America, the 2023 Oscar nominees presentation was webcast on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, and the Academy’s social media channels.
The 2023 Oscars will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the third time; Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, who have produced numerous televised trophyfests, will serve as producers.
The 2017 awards were notable not just for the Oscars that were given out, but also for Will Smith slapping Chris Rock and the contentious choice to present eight categories in advance and televise edited versions of those remarks. Bill Kramer, the CEO of the New Academy, has stated that this year’s live presentation should honour all of the categories.
