KARACHI: Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Service began commercial operation as of today 10 September 2022, according to Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
According to a statement from Sharjeel Inam Memon, the project was started by the province administration for the residents of Karachi. He stated that “over 24,000 can ride on modern public transportation every day.”
According to the province minister, Green Bus Service and Orange Line BRT Service are connected. The transport minister noted, “Both BRT Services have distinct ticketing systems.
The 3.88-kilometer-long Orange Line corridor connects Orangi Town with the Board Office traffic intersection. It has five terminals and can accommodate 30 buses at its depot.
The Sindh government renamed the Orange Line BRT project as the Abdul Sattar Edhi Line in May in honour of the late philanthropist.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah, a former chief minister of Sindh, inaugurated the project in June 2016 to help 50,000 residents of Orangi Town. Since the project’s inception in 2016, it was anticipated that it would be finished within a year.
