OnePlus revealed a glimpse of its upcoming foldable at the launch of the OnePlus 11 smartphone, thereby confirming its existence. The launch of its foldable was planned for the third quarter of 2023 at the time. Reports suggested that there would be two foldable, the OnePlus V Flip and the OnePlus V Fold, with the V Fold being the larger horizontal folding model. The stage backdrop did give us a glimpse of the company’s upcoming foldable. More recently, the OnePlus V Fold (or OnePlus Fold) has come under scrutiny, with a recent report highlighting some of its key features. Now, information regarding the launch schedule and its global accessibility has been leaked by a source.
According to the tip, the launch would happen toward the end of August, which would be long after Samsung had announced its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable, which is anticipated to happen in late July in Seoul, Korea. According to reports, OnePlus will hold its foldable’s global launch event in New York. According to the source, only one model will be released, which is currently known as the OnePlus Fold because its official marketing name is pending confirmation.
Information about its availability on the market has also leaked. According to the tipster, the OnePlus Fold will be released globally and in all markets where OnePlus currently sells its smartphones. Markets like the US will be included in this rollout as well. The OnePlus Fold would then be forced to compete with recently released foldable like Google’s Pixel Fold and Samsung’s soon-to-be-announced Galaxy Z Fold 5 update to its Galaxy Z Fold 4 model.
The smartphone’s specifications were previously leaked by the same source. The Oppo Find N3 (the successor to the Oppo Find N2), which is anticipated to be released shortly after in China, is anticipated to be very similar to the horizontal folding smartphone. An 8-inch QHD+ (2560 x 1440 pixels) OLED inner folding primary display with a 120Hz refresh rate is reportedly present on both handsets. According to reports, the outer display has a full-HD+ resolution and measures 6.5 inches diagonally. Both phones should have up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and be powered by Qualcomm’s most recent SoC.
A 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 32-megapixel periscopic telephoto camera are said to be included in their triple rear camera setup. Two 32-megapixel front-facing cameras, one built into the outer cover display and the other into the inner folding display, are said to be in charge of taking selfies.
The latest foldable device from OnePlus was just released, but the brand is currently experiencing significant challenges in India. Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme are now three separate companies under the parent company BBK Electronics, which has already reorganized its three brands. As several central agencies in India recently accused the Chinese brands of income tax evasion, money laundering, and other violations, the decision to restructure its operations would assist in reducing the risk to its business from current and upcoming government action.
