OnePlus 11 vs. OnePlus 10 Pro

Since OnePlus went back to the drawing board for this year’s handset, a OnePlus 11 vs. OnePlus 10 Pro showdown was unavoidable. Despite losing the “Pro” moniker, the OnePlus 11 remains a flagship in almost every way. In most ways, it’s an improvement over the OnePlus 10 Pro from 2022.

The price difference is also significant, with the OnePlus 11 starting at a much lower price than the OnePlus 10 Pro did when it was released. The OnePlus 11 makes a big splash in 2023, thanks to the usual annual upgrades, better cameras, and longer battery life. The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, is still available, and at a lower price than before.

This OnePlus 11 vs. OnePlus 10 Pro comparison will examine every detail to directly compare the two smartphones and help you decide whether the newest handset is worth it or if you should stick with the older model.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The OnePlus 11 is one of the best Android values at $699. You get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for that price. You can increase both of these to 16GB and 256GB for an additional $100.

The OnePlus 10 Pro was originally priced at $899, but OnePlus now sells it for $799. It, too, starts with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but upgrades to 12GB and 256GB or 512GB are available.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has the advantage in terms of current prices, but the OnePlus 11 represents a better value.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: DESIGN

In terms of design, the OnePlus 11 looks similar enough to the OnePlus 10 Pro to feel familiar, but the camera module on the new phone looks entirely different thanks to the new round camera module design. The jury is still out on whether the circle or rectangular stove top design of the 10 Pro is superior. Aside from the colorways, the backs of each handset are nearly identical. The same is true for the front.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has an advantage over its successor in terms of IP rating. The OnePlus 10 Pro T-Mobile variant had an official IP68 rating, which meant it could survive up to 1.5 metres underwater for 30 minutes. (The unlocked OnePlus 10 does not have an official IP rating.) The OnePlus 11 has an IP64 rating, which means it can withstand splashes but should not be submerged.

For added durability, both models have Gorilla Glass Victus over the screen. Nonetheless, the OnePlus 10 Pro triumphs due to its higher IP rating (at least with the T-Mobile version).

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: DISPLAY

The OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 10 Pro both have 6.7-inch AMOLED displays with 3216 x 1440 resolutions and 1-120Hz refresh rates. The phones were nearly indistinguishable in our testing, with statistically insignificant differences in colour reproduction and accuracy.

In the default Vivid mode, for example, the OnePlus 11 reproduced 171% of the sRGB spectrum, while the OnePlus 10 Pro reproduced 174%. In terms of Delta-E colour accuracy (where 0 is perfect), the 11 scored 0.31 and the 10 Pro scored 0.32.

In fact, I believe the OnePlus 11 has the same display as the OnePlus 10 Pro — or at the very least, they’re of similar enough quality to make this comparison worthwhile. Watching movies like Blade Runner 2049 or playing games like Genshin Impact look so good on either handset that it’s difficult to tell one from the other from the front.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: CAMERAS

When it comes to cameras, the two phones differ significantly. The OnePlus 11 takes the best photos we’ve seen from a OnePlus phone, thanks to a 50MP main sensor. The main camera is accompanied by 48MP ultrawide and 32MP telephoto lenses, the latter of which has a 2x optical zoom.The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, has a 48MP main camera with 50MP ultrawide and 8MP 3.3x telephoto lenses. The OnePlus 11 has a 16MP selfie camera on the front, while the 10 Pro has a 32MP sensor.

Here’s a shot of the pond behind my house to start this photo comparison. The OnePlus 11 has a more vibrant image with richer colours, which is especially impressive given the harsh sunlight to the left. The image from the OnePlus 10 Pro is much paler and less lifelike. In comparison to the 11, it’s boring. However, neither phone has trouble focusing. The sign in the foreground is well-defined. However, I believe the OnePlus 11 is the winner.

The OnePlus 11 has a much warmer tone in its image on the inside, or perhaps the OnePlus 10 Pro is too cool. I’m going with the latter because the scene itself appeared to be rather warm, with light drifting in from the left.

Overall, while both phones keep the book spines and plush dolls in sharp focus with a wide dynamic range, I believe the OnePlus 11 captures a more accurate and detailed image.

When I return to the pond for the ultrawide test, I see a similar pattern to what we saw in the first outdoor comparison. To my eye, the OnePlus 11 has richer colours and a sharper focus, whereas the OnePlus 10 Pro is softer and has more muted hues. The OnePlus 11 has a strong sense of depth, which results in a more detailed image. This one goes to it.

While the zoom levels on the two phones are quite different — 2x for the OnePlus 11 versus 3.3x for the 10 Pro — I decided to put them to the test on this spray painted trash can. To me, the distinction is immediately noticeable.

The image on the OnePlus 11 is much brighter overall, with sharper focus on the trash can, better colours, and stronger exposure control. Despite not being able to zoom as far as the OnePlus 10 Pro, the OnePlus 11 has superior telephoto performance.

The images taken at night tell a different story. I tried several times and these are the best of the bunch. The OnePlus 11 struggles with image stabilisation, consistently producing blurry images in this near-black environment. The OnePlus 10 Pro performs no better. The colours in the 11’s shot are quite pale, whereas the 10 Pro’s are a little too warm. But I have to give the OnePlus 10 Pro the edge.

In terms of selfies, I prefer the OnePlus 10 Pro’s image. With less face smoothing, I appear sharper. The green door in the background looks great in both photos, but the OnePlus 11 uses too many unnatural effects, as I mentioned in my original OnePlus 11 review. I’d rather share the selfie from the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Despite a few victories for the OnePlus 10 Pro at the end, the OnePlus 11 is clearly the superior camera phone. It performs better in terms of colour reproduction, dynamic range, and exposure control. It’s not quite as good as Apple’s, Samsung’s, or Google’s best camera phones, but it’s OnePlus’ best attempt yet.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: PERFORMANCE

It should come as no surprise that the OnePlus 11 outperforms the OnePlus 10 Pro in almost every performance metric. The newer phone is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip, which offers several notable improvements over its predecessor, particularly in terms of graphics.

To begin, the OnePlus 11 scored 1,166 in single-core and 4,962 in multicore Geekbench 5, which measures CPU and overall system performance. This is a significant improvement over the OnePlus 10 Pro’s 995 / 3,482 score.

The OnePlus 11 outperforms the OnePlus 10 Pro in 3DMark’s Wild Life Unlimited graphics benchmark, scoring 84 frames per second to the OnePlus 10 Pro’s 61 fps.

The Adobe Premiere Rush video transcode test, on the other hand, is where the two phones remain relatively equal. The OnePlus 11 appears to be an outlier when compared to other Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phones we’ve tested, taking 1 minute and 11 seconds to transcode our 4K video — the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Galaxy S23 Ultra took only 39 seconds. The OnePlus 10 Pro completed the test in 1 minute and 2 seconds. This appears to be a OnePlus issue rather than a problem with the new Qualcomm silicon.

As expected, the OnePlus 11 can max out Genshin Impact while maintaining a stable frame rate, providing a significantly better gaming experience than the OnePlus 10 Pro. It goes without saying that the more recent

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING

Both the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 10 Pro have 5,000 mAh batteries, but the newer model has significantly better battery life in our testing thanks to the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In fact, the battery life on the OnePlus 11 is among the best of any Android flagship.

For our battery life test, we ask a phone to reload web pages indefinitely over a cellular connection until it dies. The OnePlus 11 completed this test in 13 hours and 10 minutes. In comparison, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a battery life of 11 hours and 52 minutes. That’s nearly an hour and a half of difference, despite the fact that both OnePlus devices are on our list of the best phone battery life.

In terms of charging, the OnePlus 11 receives 80W in the United States, while the OnePlus 10 Pro receives 65W. In 30 minutes, the OnePlus 11 regained 97% of its battery capacity. At 93%, the 10 Pro was not far behind.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: SOFTWARE

One important piece of good news is that the software on the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 10 Pro is nearly identical. OxygenOS 13, which is based on Android 13, is used by both phones. Because it is essentially Oppo’s ColorOS with different colours, not everyone is a fan of the software. It’s been described as bloated and over-engineered.

The difference between the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 10 Pro comes down to support. The newer phone will not only receive updates faster, but also for a longer period of time. OnePlus has committed to four years of platform upgrades and five years of security patches for the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro, respectively.

That means the OnePlus 11 will outlast its predecessor by two years. It’s impressive to see OnePlus catch up to Samsung and beat Google in this regard, though update timeliness will remain an issue.

ONEPLUS 11 VS. ONEPLUS 10 PRO: OVERALL WINNER

As you can see, the OnePlus 11 comes out on top. It offers the best bang for your buck of any Android handset right now, with a killer starting price. It has better cameras, better performance, and a longer battery life.

Having said that, the OnePlus 10 Pro is still a fantastic phone, as we’ve demonstrated here. It has better cameras, longer battery life, and overall performance — and it’s a little more durable. For $699, the OnePlus 11 does everything better.
