When her boyfriend’s pitbull mix rescue became alarmed by her teeth whitening device, the pooch bit off her nose.
Olivia Quast, 30, of Thomaston, suffered horrific injuries to her face and arm in a February 3 incident involving her boyfriend Graeme Stasyshyn’s 6-year-old dog, Bentley, whom he’s had for four years.
In an interview with Kennedy News and Media, Quast said she touched her face and was surprised to find her nose “wasn’t there.”
The dog then continued to attack Quast, leaving her left arm mangled, before she was able to fight the animal off and call for help, according to Quast.
Bentley, who was abused as a puppy, could have been startled and provoked by her teeth-whitening mouth guard with a UV light, according to Quast. In a separate interview, the woman stated that the dog’s eyes had “changed” and that the animal was “disassociated.”
She used to be a “cat person” who never liked dogs until she moved in with her 44-year-old boyfriend and his pointer, pitbull, and bulldog mix, which became the first dog she “ever loved.”
Quast stated that she had a good relationship with Bentley and would snuggle with the dog in her bed, so the dog’s attack last month came as a “total shock.”
