The UK startup has teased information about the design and launch schedule for the Nothing Phone 2. Meanwhile, tipsters have also disclosed important specifications. The phone reportedly obtained a BIS certification. Long before the business announced its continued partnership with chipmaker Qualcomm at MWC 2023, Nothing CEO Carl Pei started to tease information about the company’s upcoming smartphone. The phone’s specifications have leaked in detail, giving us lots more information about the upcoming smartphone, including the variants that it is anticipated to come in, following a recent teaser showing off a portion of the phone and a clearer launch timeline.
Two tweets from tipper Sunary Gourkhede (@Tech_Wallah) include a rendering of the Nothing Phone 2 by an artist. The render was produced by Twitter user Ben Geskin, who earlier mocked up the image based on a recent tweet from the company that also showed off a portion of the upcoming device. It is important to note that the image is not a leaked image or a render created using leaked specifications, but rather gives us a general idea of how the phone might appear.
The leaker also states that the Nothing Phone 2 will have an embedded fingerprint reader and a 6.55-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. Gourkhede claims that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. According to reports, the device will have UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. The rear camera setup is anticipated to include two additional cameras in addition to the 50-megapixel primary camera.
According to rumors, the phone will support NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth, 5G radios, and satellite connectivity, which could function similarly to the iPhone 14 series’ Emergency SOS feature. The tipster could, however, be referring to standard global positioning systems (GPS), which are present on all smartphones.
The Glyph Interface used by the company for notifications on the Nothing Phone 1 is anticipated to remain in the Nothing Phone 2’s design. A frame made of aluminum will be sandwiched between the glass front and back panels. It is anticipated that the device will have a 5,000mAh battery and support fast charging. Both wireless charging and an IP rating, which we found to be segment-leading features for the Nothing Phone 1 in our review, are currently not mentioned. The stereo speakers and two microphones from the Phone 1 are anticipated to remain in Phone 2.
The upcoming handset will be offered in three variations, the tipster claims. The entry-level model will have 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. The top-of-the-line model is rumored to have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the second variant will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. These resemble the current Nothing Phone 1 variant in appearance.
The aforementioned details are consistent with a prior report on information that was leaked about the same device. However, since all of this information is unofficial, we do caution our readers to treat it with caution. According to our most recent report, the device is expected to be released during the UK summer, which would place its release date between July and September. However, nothing has yet to officially announce the smartphone’s launch date.
