Nothing Phone 2 will undoubtedly go on sale in all countries in July. It will debut as the replacement for the July 2022-released Nothing Phone 1. Car Pei, the former co-founder of OnePlus and CEO of Nothing, had previously confirmed a few important details about the device. The upcoming smartphone will be supported by a 4,700mAh battery and run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. According to rumors, the Phone 2 will have a similar design to the original. The phone’s display size and a few other details have now also been disclosed by the company.
Nothing revealed that the display of the Nothing Phone 2 will be 0.15 inches larger than that of the Nothing Phone 1 in a Twitter thread. The company’s first smartphone model has a 6.55-inch full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) screen. The Phone 2 will therefore have a 6.7-inch screen.
Pei previously stated that the Nothing Phone 2 will have a 4,700mAh battery, which is 200mAh larger than the 4,500mAh battery of the Phone 1. Pei also confirmed the phone will launch in July. According to a statement released by the company today, these modifications will “boost the overall performance” of the upcoming phone while preserving a carbon footprint of 53.45 kilograms, more than 5 kilograms less than the Phone 1.
The octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a significant upgrade from the Phone 1’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+, will power the Nothing Phone 2, Pei confirmed earlier this month. According to early tests, the Nothing Phone 2 is twice as fast as the Nothing Phone 1. It is reportedly about 80% more productive than its forerunner. Additionally, the business revealed today that it will provide the Nothing Phone 2 with 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
The Nothing Phone 2 is said to have three times as many recycled or bio-based parts as the Phone 1 and is sold in a plastic-free package. The company claimed in a series of tweets that the upcoming model uses 100% recycled tin on 9 circuit boards, 100% recycled copper foil on the main circuit board, over 90% recycled steel on all 28 steel stamping parts, and 80% of plastic parts are sourced sustainably.
Nothing asserts that the Nothing Phone 2’s final assembly facilities are also powered entirely by renewable energy, in addition to the handset’s mid-frame being made of 100% recycled aluminum produced with 100% renewable energy.
