Nobody Phone 2 is anticipated to go on sale soon. CEO Carl Pei today confirmed that the phone’s chipset will be used. The successor to the Nothing Phone 1 is anticipated to be released between June and September of this year, according to earlier reports. The first phone made by Nothing had a transparent back panel that was Corning Gorilla Glass protected, among other distinctive features. Fans anticipate significant improvements in the company’s second phone. Pei was notably a co-founder of OnePlus who later quit the company to found Nothing in 2020.
Carl Pei tweeted a confirmation that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC will power the Nothing Phone 2. Pei clarified why it is “a clear upgrade” from Nothing Phone 1 in a series of tweets.
Pei claims that preliminary tests showed that the Nothing Phone 2’s app opening speed is twice as quick as the Phone 1’s. The upcoming smartphones are expected to perform about 80% better overall than their forerunners.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ octa-core SoC powers the Nothing Phone 1. In contrast, aside from speed, the Snapdragon 8 series chipset offers other noteworthy improvements like better battery life, network connectivity, and camera quality.
According to Pei, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC has an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP), which enables users to record over 4,000 times more camera data than the Nothing Phone 1’s ISP. As a result, it is anticipated that the camera on the Nothing Phone 2 will come with upgraded features like Raw HDR and 4K recording at 60 fps.
According to Pei, the 4nm TSMC Snapdragon 8 series SoC features best-in-class power and heat management. Pei defends the SoC itself in addition to defending the choice of the chipset. He claims that since its launch a year ago, it has undergone extensive testing and received regular optimizations via a number of updates, indicating that it now provides the best experience possible.
Pei clarified in one of the tweets in advance, possibly anticipating the question of why not use Qualcomm’s newest and fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC was chosen above all other options to ensure customer accessibility without compromising on significant advancements over the company’s previous smartphone.
