The singer, who was born in London, lost another “comrade” and “soldier,” according to his colleagues, who voiced their “shock” and “sadness” at the news.
His collection of soul, funk, and gospel songs endure in the hearts of people who were familiar with his music, from his humble beginnings in a school band named The Albions to reaching the UK Top Ten.
Friends and influential members of the music business paid tribute to the “voice of an angel,” who performed duets with Mica Paris, Beverly Knight, and Vanessa Simon during her career.
British musician Leee John took to Twitter after hearing the sad news.
