Police have confirmed the discovery of a body in the search for missing mother Nicola Bulley, following a “tip-off” from walkers near the river.
No formal identification has yet been given to the body, and police are unable to confirm the identity but are currently treating the death as “unexplained”.
At 11.36 a.m. today, police received reports of a body in the water and are now investigating whether the body is that of the missing mother, who was last seen on January 27.
A police statement was later issued, confirming that an underwater search team and specialist officers had recovered a body.
Their statement read: “We were called today at 11:36am to reports of a body in the River Wyre, close to Rawcliffe Road.
“An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body.
“No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time.

“Procedures to identify the body are on-going. We are currently treating the death as unexplained.”
