Following charges that he sent flirtatious communications to female Ukrainian refugees, a COUNCIL supervisor was fired.
The 64-year-old Nick Dawe is accused of contacting women who were rehoused in his community after escaping the war-torn Ukraine.
He will allegedly be investigated for his alleged behaviour with ladies who moved to Essex.
The chief operations officer at Epping District Council, according to The Mail, has previously been praised publicly for his efforts to assist refugees, including earlier this year when he drove a van to the devastated country to deliver “humanitarian supplies.”
However, according to recent reports, he has been charged with sending a number of indecent communications to women who have been rehomed nearby, including requests for them to stay at his second home in Liverpool.
He is accused of routinely sending texts that contained kisses and of complementing a Ukrainian woman’s “beautiful eyes.”
Authorities with the council claim that a family that was housing a female immigrant first made the allegations, which were later confirmed by several women over the summer.
The Mail quoted a Ukrainian woman as saying, “[The texts] were like kiss, kisses, not like pals. like in a hug or kiss. For me, hug and kiss is not about friends.
“I just remember he invite me and mum to Liverpool, he has house in Liverpool. He sent picture of garden in Liverpool, that I remember.
“I understand that he talks to me like a man, not like friend. And I text him sorry, we can just be like friends in the hub [community event], and that’s all, not like a man and woman, don’t text me, that’s all.
“I text: sorry, don’t text me, don’t invite me somewhere, because I understand if it will continue it will be like you know, because I am not 20, I know how men think.”
An investigation into Mr Dawes conduct was reportedly launched six weeks ago and is thought to concern “multiple women,” according to a source gathered by the Mail.
A friend close to the council boss told the outlet: “I don’t think he’s done anything wrong. I think he’s been used as a scapegoat for various things. All he has done from day one is help. He has driven to Ukraine, for God’s sake.”
According to estimates, 135,900 Ukrainians are being sponsored by British families as part of the government’s sponsorship programme, the majority of whom are women and children.
Mr. Dawe issued a statement in which he stated: “I cannot comment as a procedure has not yet begun. No Ukrainians have made any accusations. In about a month, there might be a story, but it might be completely different.
A council spokesman said: “It would be essential to follow proper HR protocols and procedures in order to prevent prejudice to any investigation.
“We are therefore sorry we are unable to comment in more detail.”
