The amount of passenger insurance coverage has been increased by Pakistan Railways (PR) from 1.5 million to 2.5 million rupees.
The most recent media reports state that Rs. 2.5 million will be given to the families of passengers who died in the recent train accident. There will be Rs. 300,000 in insurance coverage in the event of disability.
A contract to increase the insurance coverage amount has been signed by PR and the State Life Insurance Corporation. Khawaja Safiq Rafiq, the minister of railways, took part in the signing ceremony via video link.
In order to determine who the proper insurance beneficiaries are, the minister instructed PR professionals to go to the residences of the victims of the Nawabshah tragedy.
He mandated that checks be delivered on time to the residences of the disabled and the deceased. He also ordered that the injured be paid at their residences.
Hazara Express derailed about 275 kilometers from Karachi, causing the accident. Approximately 10 coaches reportedly derailed, resulting in a significant number of fatalities and injuries.
