A state-of-the-art Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS) called “Nadir” has been introduced by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The new system aims to improve the speed and accuracy of NADRA’s operations by streamlining the procedure for identifying people using their fingerprints.
At a ceremony on Monday in Islamabad, Tariq Malik, the chairman of NADRA, introduced the new system. Malik spoke at the event and emphasized the value of technology in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of NADRA’s operations.
The NADRA system will make it simpler to identify and authenticate people by enabling NADRA officials to take and analyze fingerprints of people in real time.
The system has the capacity to store up to 100 million fingerprints and is fitted with sophisticated algorithms that enable quick and precise matching of fingerprints to records in a database.
The new system will increase NADRA’s operational effectiveness while also assisting in the eradication of fraud and ensuring the accuracy of records. A variety of NADRA services, such as voter registration, passport issuance, and identification, will all use the Nadir system.
The introduction of Nadir is a component of NADRA’s ongoing initiatives to modernize and digitize its services in order to improve their effectiveness and usability. The new system is anticipated to shorten wait times and boost NADRA’s services’ precision.
