Due to flooding in many parts of the country, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Friday extended the expiration date for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC).
According to a NADRA press release The CNICs’ May 2022 expiration date has been moved up to December 2022. In the flood-affected areas of Balochistan, Sukkur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, the dates have been extended.
Up to December 31, 2022, residents of the aforementioned three regions can renew their CNICs.
On September 1, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah first introduced the NADRA Biker Service, which allows applicants to have their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) applications processed at their doorstep for renewal and amendment.
According to a press release, Rana Sanaullah visited the authority’s headquarters where NADRA Chairman Muhammad Tariq Malik informed the Interior Minister on activities in South Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh, which have been severely impacted by disastrous floods and high rains.
The majority of the NADRA registration centres’ buildings, which are submerged in water, have suffered significant losses as a result of the monsoon rains and floods, but the equipment has been preserved and evacuated. Houses of 150 NADRA employees in those areas have been damaged, the chairman informed.
