NA 237 Malir Karachi By Election Result 2022: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Thursday that it had put troops from the Pakistan Army and paramilitary forces in place as a quick response force to maintain law and order and maintain peace on the day of voting in two National Assembly constituencies of Karachi, NA-237 (Malir-II) and NA-239 (Korangi-I).
On Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm without a break, voters in NA-237 Malir and NA-239 Korangi will cast their ballots.
After the resignations of Jameel Ahmad Khan and Mohammad Akram Cheema, respectively, the NA-237 and NA-239 were vacant.
Not a single voting place is typical in these politically tense areas; all of them are classed as sensitive or highly sensitive. All candidates who are running for office are forbidden by the code of conduct from wrapping up their campaigns 48 hours before voting.
In a press conference, provincial election commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan stated that the ECP had fulfilled all requirements and finished all administrative and legal procedures for holding free and fair elections.
He made it clear that the ECP was stuck to its decision about holding by-election on October 16 and local bodies’ polls on October 23.
“It’s the constitutional duty of the ECP to organise fair, free and peaceful elections,” he said. “Following the same spirit, we have made all arrangements for the by-elections in NA-237 (Malir-II) and NA-239 (Korangi-I). The police force would be deployed as primary source of security while the troops of Pakistan Army and paramilitary forces would be there on standby as quick response force to maintain law and order and keep peace intact during the day of voting.”
