Zain Qureshi, a member of the national legislature and the son of the late foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, ran for office in Multan, Punjab, in July.
He resigned from the national legislature after his resounding victory by taking the oath of the Punjab assembly.
NA-157 was now up for grabs. Now, a by-election will be place in Qureshi’s previous Multan constituency on September 11.

2018: In the general election, Zain Qureshi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won NA-157 with 77,373 votes. Ali Musa Gillani, a candidate for Pakistan Peoples Party and the son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, finished in second place with 70,778 votes.
Contesting candidates
The fight on September 11 would be between Musa Gillani from the PPP and first-time competitor Mehr Bano Qureshi of the PTI. Mehr Bano Qureshi is Zain Qureshi’s sister.
Tahir Ahmed, a member of the right-wing Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, is a third contender in the race.
NA 157 Election Expected Result
Both the PTI and PPP candidates are now involved in active electoral campaigns.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the father of Mehr Bano Qureshi, and Zain Qureshi, the brother, are holding corner meetings and knocking on doors to solicit votes. Mehr Bano has limited herself to speaking primarily at events for women.
On the other hand, Gillani is supported by his father, Yusuf Raza Gillani, as well as his brothers. The Pakistan Muslim League-Abdul N’s Ghaffar Dogar is also running for Gillani’s son.
It is significant to note here that the constituency has gained 71,480 additional voters during 2018.
Constituency Issues
Lack of access to clean water and a lack of colleges and universities. Basic amenities and medical personnel are lacking in hospitals.
