The internet is in awe of American astronomer Andrew McCarthy for capturing the most detailed image of the moon. For two weeks, he had been trying to get the picture. The photographer cautions users who want to download the full-size image that “it may break your computer” due to the size, which is in Gigapixels.
Andrew used two telescopes and 280,000 individual images to produce the most comprehensive image. By enlarging the image and using different shades of grey, you can see even the tiniest details.
He posted on his Twitter page that the image gets shrunk on Twitter, but that people can find the link to it on his website or purchase one of his limited-edition prints. In addition, the photographer published a time-lapse video of camera setup procedures.
I took an obscenely high resolution photo of the moon on Wednesday. Zoom in and check out the details!
