The rise of young wicketkeepers in the eighth season of the HBL Pakistan Super League, which is now in progress, has not alarmed Mohammad Rizwan.
In contrast to Mohammad Haris, who was a crucial component of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign, Azam Khan has previously demonstrated his batting skills in leagues all over the world.
“I’d really want to see Pakistan’s team include not one, not two, but at least five wicketkeepers. Yet they must adhere to the prerequisite requirements for it. I’m not intimidated by the competition; in fact, I’m looking for more wicketkeepers in Pakistan, Rizwan stated in an interview with a local paper.
Haseebullah, an up-and-coming batsman, scored a brilliant 50 off 29 balls, including three sixes and four fours, two of which came off the same Imad Wasim over. His performance was crucial in aiding Peshawar Zalmi’s comeback as the wicketkeeper from Pishin added 82 runs for the third wicket with Kohler-Cadmore. The collaboration was crucial to Zalmi’s victory over Karachi Kings on Wednesday.
Yet, Rizwan thinks that in order to succeed internationally, new wicketkeepers must duplicate their local results.
He remarked, “Haseebullah is performing well and his technique is excellent. I recently saw him.
But else the performances are wasted, it’s crucial for players [participating in the home circuit] to perform at the level expected of a Pakistani player, he continued.
After being replaced by Sarfaraz in the New Zealand Test series, Rizwan is also vying for a berth as the team’s wicketkeeper for the Tests.
Afterward, Rizwan admitted that he had requested to be dropped from the team in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.
If you want to know what I said to the head coach Saqlain Mushtaq following the conclusion of the England Test series, you can ask me, said Rizwan. “I was glad to see Sarfaraz play because that is what I wanted,” he said. I personally believed that I didn’t deserve to participate in the upcoming series since I wasn’t able to perform.
Several athletes said that everyone passes through this stage and that you can’t be benched just on a few slip-ups.
Sarfaraz was the leading scorer in the New Zealand series with 335 runs scored at an astounding average of 83.75 in the two Test matches. After scoring a hundred-and-a-half-century against New Zealand in the second Test, he was also named Player of the Series.
