Rapper Pride has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 40-year-old man.
Cadarrius Pride, the rapper, surrendered to authorities in Mississippi on Wednesday after being listed as a suspect in a murder.
On Wednesday afternoon, deputies from the Panola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a residence in Panola County, roughly two and a half hours north of Jackson.
Marcus Wheatley, 40, was discovered dead from gunshot wounds at the scene.
Panola County officials identified Pride as the suspect during their investigation.
Chief Deputy Reginald Lantern stated that when an arrest warrant was issued, family members of the suspect contacted him.
Pride’s family members advised him that he wished to surrender.
Pride was arrested and put into the Panola County Detention Center on first-degree murder charges.
With his song Painting Pictures, the acclaimed Mississippi-born rapper went viral on social media.
The video had over 27 million views on YouTube and quickly went viral on TikTok.
The single reached the Top 25 on the Billboard charts.
