According to his daughter Linsday DiBetta, Gary Levin, a 74-year-old Lyft driver from Philadelphia who went missing in Florida a week ago, has passed away.
According to his daughter, Levin was last seen on Monday, January 30, while operating a taxi around the Palm Beach Gardens neighbourhood. Days later, according to Daily Voice, authorities learned the senior’s automobile had been stolen in North Carolina and then they recovered human remains close to his last known location in Florida.
The remains have not been publicly identified by Florida authorities.
However, DiBetta said in a public Facebook post on Tuesday, February 7, that the search for her father was over.
“I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers throughout this nightmare situation,” she wrote. “At this time my family and I are asking for privacy so we can process the unfortunate information we have received.”
Levin lived on McKinley Street in Northeast Philadelphia’s Mayfair district, according to NBC Philadelphia. According to the outlet, he brought up his family in Richboro, Bucks County, and only retired did he relocate to Florida.
The situation is still being looked into.
