A California woman who went missing nearly eight years ago was discovered safe over the weekend, according to police.
Lisa Hu, 31, was taken off the Oakland Police Department’s missing people list Sunday afternoon after alerting officers that she had never been missing, according to KRON4.
Hu’s family reported her missing on December 3, 2015, when she was in her early twenties, according to CBS News.
She was estranged from her mother at the time, but the pair recently reunited and asked Oakland police to remove her from the list of missing people, according to the site.
According to an Oakland police spokesperson, the department closed the case after establishing that there was no foul play involved in Hu’s disappearance and then removed online materials about her case to respect her privacy.
The spokeswoman stated that Hu was not injured or detained against her will, but provided no other information about the case, including where she had been for the previous eight years.
