The interim Punjab government has announced free travel on the metro and orange line trains for Lahore students.
Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, made the announcement while presiding over a meeting of the provincial cabinet.
On all days of the week, students in uniform in Lahore will be able to take advantage of free transportation on the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT), Metro Bus Service, and Speedo Bus.
It is important to note that the Punjab government are now debating a plan to offer free OLMT transportation to schoolchildren in Lahore starting in 2022.
The cabinet also resolved to revoke the permits of 56 salt mining businesses operating in the province.
The government established a committee to complete the necessary paperwork for licence cancellation and approved an enhanced rock salt policy to increase transparency in the salt mining process.
In accordance with the Prime Minister’s Energy Conservation Policy, the meeting instructed the energy department to implement power-saving measures.
