A teacher may lose her job and be sentenced to prison if it is revealed that she had more than 20 sexual encounters with a student.
Melissa Marie Curtis, 31, is accused of having intercourse with a kid, which led to her arrest and many sexual offense charges. According to WBAL, authorities think there might be more victims.
The alleged offenses happened in Montgomery County, Maryland, while Curtis was a teacher there. A guy who claimed to have had sex with Curtis while he was too young to give legal consent was the subject of an investigation by the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) of the Montgomery County Department of Police, which started its investigation on October 5.
On October 31, Curtis was charged with many charges of third- and fourth-degree sexual offenses as well as the sexual abuse of a minor, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for her. She appeared for a bond hearing on Tuesday, November 7, and turned herself in.
According to investigators, the alleged abuse happened between January 2015, when Curtis was 22, and May of the same year, when the claimed victim was a teacher at Montgomery Village Middle School. According to police records that Fox5 was able to collect, the incidents happened in Curtis’ car, many county homes, and a school.
In addition, authorities assert that Curtis gave the victim access to drink and cannabis and engaged in more than 20 sex acts with him.
In addition to her tenure at Lakelands Park Middle School, Curtis taught for approximately two years in the district.
