The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) is considering holding the Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Test (MDCAT) on the same day across the country.
In this regard, the PMC is reportedly consulting with all private and public medical and dentistry universities. The revised date will reportedly be formally announced in due time.
The PMC initially declared last month that the MDCAT would be offered for MMBS and BDS programme admissions from September 7 to September 30 at selected testing locations across the nation.
However, within a few days, monsoon floods with record-breaking rainfall caused havoc in other parts of Pakistan, causing the PMC to rethink its first choice.
Additionally, due to flooding, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination (NHSRC) requested that the PMC postpone the MDCAT 2022.
The Ministry noted that 81 districts in Sindh, Balochistan, South Punjab, upper KP, and GB have been devastated by the floods and that significant infrastructure has been destroyed in an official letter to the PMC.
The letter suggested that the PMC should postpone MDCAT 2022 in order to accommodate the students from the flood-affected districts.
