Victor Hugo Sosa, the mayor of San Pedro Huamelula in southern Mexico, took part in a wedding ceremony with a female crocodile as part of an unusual custom that is thought to bring good fortune. As the “princess girl” in the local folklore, the crocodile, also known as a caiman, has special significance.
Sosa confessed his love for the crocodile and agreed to the responsibilities of marriage during the ceremony. He stressed the value of love in marriage and said he is pleased to start a relationship with the “princess girl.”
