A young climber’s farewell post, which was published after she died after falling more than 100 feet while other climbers watched, contains an unsettling message.
Maya Humeau, 22, died on Tuesday morning after attempting the hazardous routes in the terrifying Colorado Rockies.
Humeau uploaded multiple videos and pictures of her trip up Longs Peak mountain in her final Instagram post.
On September 6, she tweeted, “I’m buzzing after spending a wonderful weekend up at the Diamond.”
I had forgotten how enjoyable it is to exert yourself there.
The post included a picture of Humeau and one of her pals together with gorgeous mountain views.
“I’m blown away by the quality of those routes!!”
According to Clear Creek County officials, Humeau was at the Black Wall climbing location to the north of Mount Evans with other climbers.
After seeing Humeau fall, a male climber who was accompanying her dialled 911, according to CBS News.
The site was attended by the Alpine Rescue Team, Clear Creek cops, and Flight For Colorado.
When emergency personnel arrived, Humeau had already passed away as a result of her wounds, according to the sheriff’s office.
“She was not a daredevil, but she was getting very serious about climbing,” said her father, Thierry Humeau to KDVR
“She really loved it.”
