Maura Higgins had to abruptly cancel her plans to attend the British Fashion Awards because she thought her own outfit was “not very proper.”
The Love Island singer, 32, is renowned for her sensual and provocative sense of style, but she confessed that she felt uneasy wearing her own gown and abruptly cancelled her attendance at the event.
She turned to her Instagram Stories to describe the experience as a “horror” and to explain that she had “zero control” over her custom-made gown.
“BFA tonight… first time to have zero control on my costume… thrilled to see what @scott henshall has designed for me,” Maura said on Instagram as she was getting ready.
Former Mulberry creative director Scott Henshall shared the article on his own Instagram Stories and added a heart emoji.
However, Maura quickly informed her followers as to why she hadn’t yet uploaded any pictures of herself on the red carpet.
Maura, decked out in makeup and a strapless, very low-cut silver dress, confessed, “I’ve had a bit of a nightmare. So it’s clear that I’m prepared, as you can see. As usual, the glam team is on point. Basically, I wouldn’t wear the dress, the shoes, or anything else.
“I don’t really know what to say, it’s like, I just feel it’s not very appropriate for the Fashion Awards.
“I obviously do like to go daring, you guys know that, but I just feel, I don’t know. It’s just not right. So yeah, I’ve decided not to go. I’m still in the hotel as you can see.”
