Marney Schoenfeld, a talented hairstylist from Arizona and mother, has been identified as the woman who died after falling to her death off a Disneyland parking structure on Saturday.
According to Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Steinle, Schoenfeld, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died after she leaped or fell from the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure at the Anaheim, California, theme park.
Her husband, Randy Schoenfeld, recalled the 46-year-old hairdresser as a devoted mother.
Her husband, a real estate agent in Arizona, told the newspaper that her passing was extremely difficult and that the pain was “excruciating.”
“She was a loving mother to her daughter, Sydney,” her husband told the paper in an email. “She was a caring wife to me. She was a talented hairstylist of 23 years and her clients loved her.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, police are looking into whether or not she committed suicide.
“Like all death investigations, the cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Anaheim Police Department and the Orange County Coroner’s Office,” Anaheim police Sgt. Jon McClintock told the outlet.
Since it first opened in 2000, the seven-story Mickey and Friends parking structure at Disneyland has seen a number of fatalities. The garage, one of the biggest in the nation, has space for more than 10,000 vehicles.
A 51-year-old elementary school principal died in a fall from the same garage in December, which police determined to be a suicide.
Authorities identified the jumper as Christopher Christensen, the 22-year Huntington Beach elementary school principal who was scheduled to appear in court the following week on charges of endangering a child and battery.
His 26-year-old daughter claimed that her father’s “toxic” relationship with his “abusive” wife was what motivated him to take his own life after he passed away.
Between 2010 and 2016, at least three additional people perished after falling from the parking structure.
