Before his anticipated fight with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg earned a Blue Belt in the martial art of jiu-jitsu.
Dave Camarillo, his fifth-degree black belt coach, received congratulations from the 39-year-old Mark Zuckerberg via Instagram. He stated:
“Congrats on earning your fifth-degree black belt, Dave Camarillo. You’re a fantastic trainer, and working out with you has taught me so much about life and fighting. Being promoted to compete as blue belt for the Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu San Jose team is also an honor.”
Camarillo was impressed by Zukerberg’s commitment and concentration. He added that the CEO of Meta had a deep love for jiu-jitsu. As Camarillo put it:
“Amazing [Zuckerberg] is. He works incredibly hard, as everyone is aware. But many people have successful businesses and lead full lives. They rarely venture into the realm of physical activity, particularly with sports like MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, and achieve the same level of success or even make it past Day 1 or Month 1. He’s not that type of person.”
The social media rivalry between Twitter CEO Elon Musk and Threads CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to end in a cage match. Recently, both business tycoons used social media to post pictures of their elite training teams.
In Musk’s corner is UFC legend George St. Pierre, while in Zuckerberg’s corner are multi-time middleweight UFC champion Israel Adesanya and highly decorated featherweight UFC fighter Alexander Volkanovski.
The vast majority of people are looking forward to the fight, but some people are dismissive of the rivalry and label their potential match as a “parody” of combat sports. Whether the critics are wrong or not will be determined in due time.
