When her sister went to check on her this week, a 74-year-old lady was discovered dead in her Upper West Side apartment with her hands and feet bound, police said on Friday.
When police arrived at the scene at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, they found Maria Hernandez unconscious and dead inside her third-floor apartment on West 83rd Street close to Columbus Avenue.
EMS pronounced Hernandez dead at the site; his wrists and feet were shackled, according to the authorities.
Hernandez’s worried sister, who visited the flat after not hearing from her for some time, was the first to discover her death and dialled 911, according to police.
No suspects were found right away.
Hernandez’s murder was deemed a homicide on Friday, the NYPD revealed; however, they were unable to immediately disclose how she was slain.
Police reported that there were no overt evidence of trauma.
