A former educator who served both Northern Westchester and Fairfield County schools has passed away.
According to her obituary, Margaret “Peggy” Beccaria passed away on Sunday, January 15 at the age of 85.
Beccaria, a New Canaan native, completed high school there before enrolling at Western Connecticut State University for college. She afterwards started teaching in Stamford.
She married Peter during this time, and the two later settled in Pound Ridge in Westchester County, where they reared their two children, Michael and Patrick.
Beccaria started teaching again, this time for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, after taking some time off to raise her children. More than 40 years passed while she resided in Pound Ridge.
However, Beccaria and her spouse started a new chapter in Palm Coast, Florida, in 2003.
Here, Beccaria discovered a passion for the seaside, gardening, poolside relaxation, and fervently supporting her neighbourhood church, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Beccaria was a devoted Catholic who never missed Sunday services until her health made it impossible for her to do so.
Following the passing of her spouse in 2018, Beccaria relocated once more, choosing to live in Atlanta, Georgia so she could be near her family. Here, she began a new chapter and found acquaintances with whom she frequently had lunch at nearby eateries.
Beccaria leaves behind her two grandkids, Ava and Anthony, as well as her sons Michael and Patrick.
Beccaria’s memorial ceremony will take place at the H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel, which is situated at 173 Allen Rd. NE in Sandy Springs, Georgia, on Saturday, February 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
